  • Vinegar contains acid, when it mixes with sodium carbonate of baking soda, it starts to produce fumes and the final product is Carbonic Acid. (You can also use lemon juice instead of vinegar). Carbonic acid is the real cleaning agent which will work for you to get your shower head free from congestions produced by minerals and dusts.

  • But here comes an issue! You try to remove the shower head and you come to know that it is not removable.

Don’t Worry!

There are two different types of shower; the first one has a Removable Shower Head while the other one has a Fixed Shower Head.

1. Cleaning a Removable Shower Head

To clean a removable shower head, we need following things:

A.) Shower Head Cleaning Solution

B.) Pot Or Bowl

C.) Wrench / Old Rag

D.) Soft Cloth

E.) Tooth Brush

Once you have gathered all things, it is the time to move on.

  1. First of all we have to remove the shower head. The method to remove the shower head is to move it clock wise. New showers can be twisted clockwise easily but a clogged up old shower head needs a rag to be wrapped around its connecting nut. (Rag is used to protect shower head’s surface from marks of wrench). Now twist shower head nut clockwise with the help of wrench to clean it.

  2. Put all solution in a bowl and dip shower head inside the cleaning solution.

  3. The next step is to hold your fire and wait. Wait for few hours or even an overnight wait.

  4. Keep the shower head soaked up in vinegar, baking soda solution.

  5. After at least six hours take it out.

  6. Rinse it with free flowing water; you will see all its congestion moving out.

  7. Now rub the entire residue with tooth brush.

  1. Wash the shower head thoroughly with water.

  2. Once again use tooth brush to apply some vinegar on the shower head.

  3. You should see all traces of stubborn congestion moving away.

  4. Wash the shower head again and clean it with soft cloth. You can also give it another bath with sprinkling vinegar if you find any traces of minerals or dust on shower head.

  5. Now wrap a plumbing tape and put the shower back in its place with the help of old rag and wrench.

  6. Open the showers tap and let the water flow for at least ten minutes.

  7. Your shower is free from any dust or minerals and now you can take your bath.

2. Cleaning A Fixed Shower Head

To clean a fixed shower head, we need following things:

A.) Shower Head Cleaning Solution

B.) Pot Or Bowl

C.) Plastic Bag

D.) String

E.) Soft Cloth

F.) Tooth Brush

Once you have gathered all things, it is the time to move on.

  1. First of all we have to put all solution in a plastic bag, as our shower head is non-removable or fixed. The plastic bag should not be fully filled as the liquid will drop down if it is fully filled, when shower head will be put in it.

  2. Tie the plastic bag around shower head with thread in such a way that it should be covering full shower head. The shower head must be fully rinsed in cleaning solution.

  3. The next step is to be tranquil and wait. Wait for few hours or even an overnight wait.

  4. Keep the shower head soaked up in vinegar, baking soda solution.

  5. After at least six hours untie the plastic bag and take the shower head out of the solution.

  6. Open the shower tap to rinse the shower head with free flowing water; you will see all its congestion moving out.

  1. Now rub the entire residue with tooth brush.

  2. Again open the shower tap. Let the water flow to remove the dust and minerals.

  3. Apply some vinegar on the shower head again using a toothbrush.

  4. The congestion will start moving away as you do this.

  5. Open the tap again to wash the holes of the shower head for few seconds, afterwards clean it with soft cloth. You can also give it another bath with sprinkling vinegar if you find any traces of minerals or dust on shower head.

  6. Open the showers tap and let the water flow for at least ten minutes.

  7. Your shower is free from all congestion and now you can enjoy your soothing and relaxing bath with full flow of water.

Maintain Your Shower Head:

Now your shower head is clean and the water is flowing swiftly but it should be kept this way. In order to maintain your shower head you should use a cleaning cloth to wipe all dust away from the shower head after every two to three days. Try cleaning the shower head with tooth brush once a week. You can also give your shower head a sprinkling vinegar bath once in a month.

You don’t want another nightmare that you come home tired and you see your shower head clogged up. So, start caring your shower head. Arrange proper ventilation in your shower and open your shower fan and exhaust fan for at least few minutes every day to keep the shower atmosphere free of humidity. This will help keeping your shower head clean.

Keep the shower clean and enjoy taking bath with swift water flow.

Relaxing And Soothing Bath!

And if again some congestion comes in your shower head, you know what to do.
